About Lunit Inc.

Lunit Inc. develops deep-learning software that detects cancer earlier and supports precision oncology, spanning radiology screening and digital pathology. The company was founded in 2013 by a group of KAIST researchers led by Anthony Paek, originally under the name CLDI before rebranding to Lunit in 2015, and is headquartered in the Gangnam district of Seoul, South Korea.

Its Lunit INSIGHT line analyzes chest X-rays, mammograms and digital breast tomosynthesis to flag suspected malignancies for radiologists, while the Lunit SCOPE suite reads tumor tissue images to quantify PD-L1 expression and immune phenotypes used in cancer drug development. The products carry FDA clearance and CE marking and are deployed by hospitals, screening centers and pharmaceutical partners across more than 40 countries; Lunit has also worked with GE HealthCare, Philips, Guardant Health and NVIDIA.

Lunit raised over $135 million from private investors before listing on South Korea's KOSDAQ exchange under ticker 328130 in July 2022. Around that time co-founder Anthony Paek moved to executive chairman and Brandon Suh became chief executive. In May 2024 the company completed its roughly $193 million acquisition of New Zealand-based breast-imaging firm Volpara Health Technologies, expanding its US commercial reach and pushing combined headcount past 500 across offices in Seoul, the United States, New Zealand and Japan.

Competitive Landscape

Who Lunit Inc. competes with, and how they differ.

Paige.ai logo
Paige.ai7.9/10

Paige focuses exclusively on digital pathology (FDA-cleared whole-slide AI for prostate and breast cancer), competing directly with Lunit SCOPE, while Lunit also covers chest/breast radiology detection that Paige does not address.

PathAI logo
PathAI7.9/10

PathAI pairs digital pathology diagnostic algorithms with contract biopharma services for drug-development biomarker studies, a services-heavy revenue model Lunit does not run alongside its SCOPE platform.

Aidoc logo
Aidoc7.8/10

Aidoc's AI flags time-critical findings across CT and MR studies for hospital radiology workflows, a broader multi-modality triage play than Lunit's chest X-ray- and mammography-focused INSIGHT suite.

Q
Qure.ai7.6/10

Mumbai-based Qure.ai targets the same chest X-ray AI-triage use case as Lunit INSIGHT CXR but leans harder into low-resource and emerging-market health systems (e.g. TB screening) than Lunit's US/EU hospital distribution.

Viz.ai logo
Viz.ai8.0/10

Viz.ai's care-coordination platform triages stroke, pulmonary embolism and aortic disease from CT scans -- an emergency-vascular niche distinct from Lunit's cancer-screening focus, though both sell into the same hospital radiology-AI budget.

Enlitic logo
Enlitic7.5/10

Enlitic sells a data-standardization and triage layer that normalizes imaging data across a radiology department's existing tools, a more infrastructure-focused approach than Lunit's FDA-cleared, disease-specific detection algorithms.
