Semrush is an online visibility platform founded in 2008 by Oleg Shchegolev and Dmitry Melnikov. The tool provides keyword research, competitive analysis, backlink analysis, site audits, content marketing, and AI-powered search optimization for marketers and SEO professionals.

Semrush serves more than 117,000 paying customers worldwide across SMB, agency, and enterprise segments. Its acquisitions include Kompyte (competitive intelligence) and Backlinko.

Semrush went public on the NYSE in March 2021 under ticker SEMR. Bill Wagner was appointed CEO in 2024, succeeding co-founder Oleg Shchegolev.
