Tome

Tome was an AI-powered storytelling and presentation platform founded in 2020 in San Francisco by Keith Peiris and Henri Liriani, former Instagram and Facebook product executives. The canvas-based tool used generative AI to create PowerPoint-style presentations and interactive content.

Tome grew rapidly to over 1 million users and raised $81 million across Series A and B rounds, reaching a $300 million valuation. Investors included Lightspeed, Coatue, and Greylock.

After layoffs and a strategic pivot in 2024, Tome was acquired by the University of California in January 2024 in a deal reported at $213 million, shifting focus to its enterprise AI sales intelligence product.
