MiniMax M3 is MiniMax's flagship M-series model, released on the MiniMax API on 2026-06-01 with open weights on Hugging Face from 2026-06-12. It is a roughly 428B-parameter mixture-of-experts (about 23B active per token) trained on text, images and video from the first step, with a 1M-token context built on MiniMax's own sparse attention and up to 524,288 output tokens. At $0.30 in / $1.20 out per 1M tokens it is the cheapest first-party flagship among its open-weights peers. Two things set the buying decision: most of its benchmark claims are MiniMax's own runs, and the weights license grants free use only for non-commercial purposes. Commercial use carries attribution and notice duties, and businesses above US$20 million in yearly revenue need MiniMax's prior written authorization.
