ActivTrak

ActivTrak, based in Austin, Texas, develops cloud-based workforce analytics and productivity software that collects desktop, application and web activity data to help managers understand how work gets done across employees, tools and AI. The company was founded in 2009 by Herb Axilrod and Anton Seidler, originally as Birch Grove Software, before building its business around the ActivTrak product.

The platform aggregates real-time activity data into dashboards that categorize application and web usage, benchmark individual and team performance, and support capacity and headcount planning. ActivTrak reports more than 9,500 customers and surpassed 1 million monitored users in 2025, placing it among the larger vendors in the employee-monitoring and productivity-analytics market, and it operates a Workforce Productivity Lab research arm.

ActivTrak raised a $20 million Series A from Elsewhere Partners in 2019 and a $50 million Series B led by Sapphire Ventures in 2020, bringing disclosed funding to $77.5 million; in late 2025 it added an undisclosed strategic investment from Francisco Partners. Heidi Farris became CEO in 2023 and has driven the company toward a $100 million annual recurring revenue target. ActivTrak employs roughly 175 people.
