About Groq

Groq is an AI inference company founded in 2016 in Mountain View, California by Jonathan Ross, a co-designer of Google's original TPU. The company designs the Language Processing Unit (LPU), an AI accelerator chip optimized for high-throughput, low-latency inference, and operates GroqCloud.

Groq serves developers and enterprises requiring fast LLM inference, competing with NVIDIA, Cerebras, and SambaNova. In February 2025 Groq secured a $1.5 billion commitment from Saudi Arabia to expand its Dammam data center.

Groq raised a $750 million round in September 2025 at a $6.9 billion valuation led by Disruptive. In December 2025 Nvidia announced a reported $20 billion agreement to license Groq technology and hire key Groq executives.
