Informatica was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in Redwood City, California. The company develops enterprise software for data integration, data quality, master data management, and data governance, helping organizations manage data across cloud and on-premises environments.

Its core offering, the Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC), is used by enterprises for data engineering, application integration, API management, and data cataloging. Informatica serves large enterprise customers across financial services, healthcare, retail, and government sectors, and competes with vendors such as Talend, IBM, and Microsoft in the data integration and management market.

Informatica went public in 1999, was taken private in 2015 through a buyout led by Permira and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board for approximately $5.3 billion, and returned to public markets via an IPO on the NYSE in October 2021 under the ticker INFA. In 2024, Salesforce held talks to acquire Informatica, though the deal did not proceed to completion at that time.
