Unstructured is an enterprise data infrastructure company founded in 2022 in San Francisco by Brian Raymond, a former U.S. intelligence analyst. The company provides open-source and commercial tools that transform unstructured documents — PDFs, Word docs, emails, images — into structured data ready for RAG and LLM applications.

Unstructured is used by enterprises and AI teams for document preprocessing at scale, and the open-source library has hundreds of thousands of downloads per month.

The company has raised approximately $65 million, including a $40 million Series B led by Menlo Ventures with participation from Databricks Ventures, IBM Ventures, Madrona, Bain Capital Ventures, and NVentures.
