Baseten

Baseten is a machine learning infrastructure company founded in 2021 and headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company was co-founded by Tuhin Srivastava, Philip Howes, and Amir Haghighat to provide a platform for deploying and serving AI models at scale, targeting ML engineers and teams building production AI applications.

The company's core product is a model inference platform that supports deployment of open-source models such as those from Meta, Mistral, and Stability AI, as well as custom fine-tuned models. Baseten offers features including autoscaling, GPU infrastructure management, and a framework called Truss for packaging and serving models. The platform is used by AI-native companies and enterprises that require low-latency, high-throughput inference without managing underlying infrastructure.

Baseten raised a $20 million Series A round in 2022 and subsequently closed a $40 million Series B round in 2024, bringing total disclosed funding to approximately $60 million. Investors include Greylock Partners and IVP, among others. The company has grown its headcount to roughly 50–150 employees as of 2024 and competes with providers such as Modal, Replicate, and cloud-native inference services from major hyperscalers.
