IFTTT Inc. was founded in 2010 by Linden Tibbets, Alexander Tibbets, Jesse Tane, and Scott Tong, and is headquartered in San Francisco, California. The company officially launched its service in September 2011 under the name "If This Then That," which refers to its core conditional automation logic connecting internet services via trigger-action pairs.

The platform allows individuals and businesses to create automated workflows—called Applets—that link over 1,000 apps and internet-connected devices, spanning productivity tools, social media, smart home devices, and AI services. Users can choose from pre-built Applets or build custom ones without writing code. IFTTT also offers an embedded integration SDK that enables third-party developers to distribute IFTTT-powered automation within their own products.

IFTTT raised a 0 million Series B in 2014 led by Norwest Venture Partners and Andreessen Horowitz, followed by a 4 million Series C in May 2018 led by Salesforce Ventures. The company employs approximately 45 people and operates on a freemium subscription model with free, Pro, and Pro+ tiers, introduced in 2020.
