About Lexion

Lexion is an AI-powered contract lifecycle management (CLM) platform founded in 2019 by Gaurav Oberoi, Emad Elwany, and James Baird at the Allen Institute for AI (AI2) in Seattle, Washington. The company developed email-driven contract workflows enabling legal, sales, finance, and procurement teams to manage contracts from intake through execution without adopting additional software.

The platform centralizes contract intake, routing, approvals, storage, and reporting in a single dashboard. Its email-driven intake capability allowed stakeholders to submit contract requests directly from their inbox while legal and operations teams managed the full workflow centrally. Lexion drew recognition from CB Insights AI 100 in 2020 and 2021 and earned multiple G2 awards in 2023.

Lexion raised $35.2 million in venture capital from investors including Khosla Ventures, Madrona, and Point72 Ventures, including a $20 million round in April 2023. DocuSign announced an agreement to acquire Lexion in May 2024 and completed the transaction on May 31, 2024, for $165 million in cash. Following the acquisition, Lexion's technology was integrated into DocuSign's Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform, and co-founder Gaurav Oberoi joined DocuSign as VP of Product Management.
