7shifts was founded in 2014 by Jordan Boesch in Saskatoon, Canada, and is now headquartered in Toronto. The company builds cloud-based and mobile software that helps restaurant operators manage employee scheduling, labor costs, tip pooling, and team communication.

The platform is used by restaurant groups and independent operators to build schedules, track labor compliance, forecast sales and labor needs, and process payroll through integrations and its own payroll product. 7shifts integrates with point-of-sale systems such as Toast, Square, and Micros, and serves customers ranging from single-location restaurants to multi-unit chains.

7shifts has raised venture funding across multiple rounds from investors including Whistler Capital, Napier Park Financial Partners, and other growth-stage investors, with total funding in the hundreds of millions of dollars. The company has grown its employee base into the hundreds and expanded its product suite beyond scheduling into payroll, tips, and team engagement tools.
