Basecamp

Basecamp is a project management and team collaboration platform developed by 37signals, founded in 1999 in Chicago by Jason Fried, Carlos Segura, and Ernest Kim. Basecamp bundles messaging, to-dos, documents, schedules, and client access for small teams and agencies.

37signals is also the company behind HEY email and the Ruby on Rails web framework, which was created inside the company by David Heinemeier Hansson. The business has been profitable and privately held for more than two decades.

Basecamp remains independent and bootstrapped, with Jason Fried as CEO and co-founder and David Heinemeier Hansson as CTO.
