Lexica is an AI image platform founded in 2022 by Sharif Shameem. The product began as a search engine for Stable Diffusion-generated images, allowing users to browse and search a large indexed library of AI-generated artwork along with the prompts used to create them.

The platform expanded to include Aperture, Lexica's own text-to-image model built on top of Stable Diffusion. Aperture has gone through multiple versions, with each iteration aimed at improving photorealism and prompt adherence. Users can generate images directly on the site and search the community library for inspiration or reuse of prompts.

Lexica operates as a small, largely self-funded operation. Sharif Shameem, who previously built Debuild, a GPT-3-powered low-code tool, founded the company. The platform monetizes through a subscription model offering higher generation limits and private image generation. Specific funding rounds and headcount figures have not been publicly disclosed.
