About Picsart

Picsart is a digital creation company that builds AI-driven photo and video editing software and design tools for consumers and prosumers. It was founded in November 2011 by Hovhannes Avoyan alongside engineers Artavazd Mehrabyan and Mikayel Vardanyan, and relocated its headquarters to Miami Beach, Florida in 2022 after starting from roots in Armenia.

The platform spans a web-based editor and iOS and Android apps, offering photo and video editing, background removal, a library of tens of thousands of templates, and generative AI features such as text-to-image generation and object replacement. Picsart also sells creative APIs and SDKs to developers through its Picsart.io business. The company reported roughly 150 million monthly active users and in 2024 partnered with Getty Images to develop a commercially safe generative AI image model.

Picsart has raised about $195 million across four rounds. Its $130 million Series C in August 2021, led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 with participation from Sequoia Capital, DCM, G Squared, and Tribe Capital, valued the company at more than $1 billion and gave it unicorn status. Picsart employs roughly 1,400 people across offices in the United States, Armenia, and other locations.
