Google Cloud

Google Cloud is the cloud computing division of Alphabet Inc., providing infrastructure-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service, and software-as-a-service offerings. The division was established in 2008 with the launch of Google App Engine and is headquartered in Mountain View, California. Google Cloud operates as part of Alphabet's broader technology ecosystem alongside Google Search, YouTube, and other properties.

The platform offers compute, storage, networking, data analytics, and machine learning services through a global network of data centers. Key products include Google Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery data warehouse, and Vertex AI for machine learning workloads. Notable enterprise customers include Spotify, Twitter, Snap, and various government agencies. Google Cloud competes primarily with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure in the public cloud market.

Google Cloud generated $26.3 billion in revenue for 2022, representing approximately 11% of Alphabet's total revenue. The division has made significant acquisitions including Looker for $2.6 billion in 2020 and Mandiant for $5.4 billion in 2022. Thomas Kurian has served as CEO of Google Cloud since 2019, reporting to Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai.
