Amazon Web Services, Inc. is a cloud computing subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Founded in 2006, AWS offers over 200 cloud services spanning compute, storage, networking, databases, and machine learning. Amazon Bedrock, launched in general availability in September 2023, is a fully managed service within AWS that allows developers to access and deploy foundation models from multiple third-party providers through a unified API.

Amazon Bedrock provides access to models from Anthropic (Claude), Meta (Llama), Mistral AI, Cohere, Stability AI, and Amazon's own Titan and Nova model families. The service supports use cases including text generation, summarization, image generation, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI agent workflows via the Bedrock Agents feature. Bedrock competes directly with Google Vertex AI and Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service in the managed AI model hosting market.

AWS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) and does not report separate funding. AWS generated approximately $107 billion in revenue in 2024, representing roughly 17% of Amazon's total net sales. Matt Garman became CEO of AWS in June 2024, succeeding Adam Selipsky. AWS employs tens of thousands of people globally across its infrastructure and services divisions.
