haptik.ai/Jio Haptik Technologies Limited, known as Haptik, is a Mumbai-based conversational AI company that builds voice and chat agents for customer service, sales, and support automation. It was founded in 2013 by Aakrit Vaish and Swapan Rajdev, launching first as a consumer personal-assistant app before pivoting to an enterprise platform.
The company's platform lets enterprises deploy intelligent virtual assistants across web, mobile, and messaging channels, including WhatsApp. Haptik built India's official COVID-19 WhatsApp helpdesk, which reached more than 21 million users, and its clients have included Samsung, Zomato, Flipkart, HDFC Life, KFC, and Coca-Cola. It positions itself as a generative AI customer-experience platform and works with OpenAI and Microsoft on model integrations.
Before its acquisition, Haptik raised roughly $12.2 million, including a $1 million round from Kalaari Capital in 2014 and an $11.2 million Series B led by Times Internet in 2016. In April 2019, Reliance Jio acquired an 87% stake for about $100 million, and the business was renamed Jio Haptik Technologies Limited and folded into Jio Platforms. Co-founder Aakrit Vaish stepped down as CEO in February 2025 and was succeeded by Ahshad Jussawalla; the company employs around 200 people.
