Thomson Reuters is a global information services company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. It was formed in 2008 following the acquisition of Reuters Group by The Thomson Corporation, a deal valued at approximately $17.2 billion. The company serves professionals in legal, tax, accounting, compliance, government, and media sectors across more than 160 countries.

The company's primary product lines include Westlaw, one of the largest legal research databases in the United States; Checkpoint, a tax and accounting research platform; Practical Law, a legal know-how service; and Reuters News, which supplies news content to media organizations and financial institutions worldwide. Thomson Reuters also operates the Reuters News Agency, which employs journalists in over 200 locations globally. Its customers include law firms, corporate legal departments, government agencies, accounting firms, and financial institutions.

Thomson Reuters trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker TRI. As of 2024, the company employs approximately 26,000 people. In 2023, it reported annual revenues of approximately $6.9 billion. The company has made several acquisitions to expand its product portfolio, including the purchase of legal AI company Casetext in 2023 for approximately $650 million, and has divested non-core assets including its majority stake in the Financial & Risk business, which became Refinitiv and was later acquired by the London Stock Exchange Group.
